10 restaurants from Sibiu you shouldn't miss

In terms of food, the tourists in Sibiu can feel pampered. Especially due to the fact that in 2019 Sibiu will be a European Gastronomic Region and many of the restaurants in the city have begun to use more and more local ingredients, from the surroundings of the city.

I'm Oana, City Editor at Sibiu City App, and because all my friends that come to Sibiu are asking me "Where can we eat something very good in Sibiu?", here is a list of 10 most popular restaurants, based on the user ratings in the app.

Syndicat Gourmet

I recommend this restaurant if you want to impress your lover / lover with delicious & modern dishes .... but with many natural ingredients
from the surroundings. It is a small place but the atmosphere is very cozy.

Max

Very close to the Old Center, Max restaurant serves among the best Italian pizzas and pasta in the city. The atmosphere is very warm and the space is generous, 2 floors plus terrace. I recommend it both for quiet family dinners and also for larger groups. Don't forget to book your table in advance ... it's in high demand.

Kulinarium

If you are in downtown Sibiu, in Piața Mică, I can recommend you a restaurant with Romanian specialties, to which the chef has added an international “quelque chose”. From what they say, much of the ingredients come from the area, are freshly prepared and seasonal. What I tasted and I recommend: sweet cheese dumplings aka "papanași", baked apples or homemade bread ...

Restaurant Pasaj

If you want to eat well and at a good price, I recommend Pasaj restaurant. They are among the few in the city who buy ingredients directly from local producers. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. If you're lucky, you may find yourself in the middle of a wine tastings or a culinary event.

Benjamin Steakhouse

If you feel like eating hamburgers or beef steak a la carte, I recommend Benjamin. Although they also have the legendary Black Angus beef, fresh herbs flavoured steaks, I like the ribbons with barbecue sauce and the extra large hamburgers. As for the atmosphere - they say it's American style, I call it warm and suitable for families. It also has a children's playground.

la Dolce Vita

This is a restaurant that I fell in love with when I arrived in Sibiu. You can choose a buffet of cold Italian appetizers or a pizza made in a traditional oven with wood or even manually prepared pasta, according to traditional recipes.

Cârciuma din Bătrâni

If you're visiting the Village Museum and you get hungry, I recommend you Cârciuma din Bătrâni. It has a tiny and rustic interior and the wooden furniture is authentic. The kitchen is headed by Mrs. Ileana, who prepares the oldest and tastiest recipes. You can try wine, brandy, cheeses, sausages, bacon, rind, "jumeri", "zacuscă", all natural ...
