Painter Felix Aftene lives and works today in Iași, having a plastic activity known and recognized both nationally and internationally, being one of the most representative contemporary artists in Romania. His artistic practice includes a variety of techniques: painting, mural painting, sculpture, installation, etc.
Alexandru Constantin Chituță, the curator of the exhibition, presents the theme of the exhibition of the artist from Iași: "Lately, the artist has accustomed us to many works from different series such as: The Tamer of Birds, Dali's Mustache, Venus and Love, Cronus, Chimera, Muse, if we were to mention some of the works of painting and sculpture.
This time on the simes of the Sibiu Museum are brought before the viewer works from an important theme in the artistic life of Felix Aftene, perhaps the most important so far, if we consider the number of works, but also the time allotted (the works presented being made in the period 2014-2021). So, we have before us an important theme in the artist's creation, an obsession, a continuous creation. The works presented here have been exhibited in various projects, most recently in the fall of 2021 being presented in the exhibition Us and them, a look at the world of animals, within the Museum of Art Collections - National Museum of Romania in Bucharest and presented in volume Felix Aftene, Architectures of memory, Architectures of memory, Polirom Publishing House, Bucharest, 2016”.
