Asociatia Florescu-Fernandez & Friends

Florescu-Fernandez & Friends is an independent cultural initiative founded in Sibiu in 2015 by pianist Monica Florescu and cellist Makcim Fernandez Samodaiev. Originally conceived as a chamber music series, FFF has developed into an artistic platform bringing together concerts, educational projects, international collaborations and interdisciplinary formats.

Chamber music and the direct encounter between artists and audiences remain at the core of its activity. Projects developed in recent years include “Odae cum Harmoniis”, the chamber music series hosted at the Mirror Hall of the German Forum in Sibiu, “Eu sunt sunet”, an educational concert programme for children, teenagers and families, and “Sunetul Colinelor Transilvaniei”, a project that brings music, heritage and the historic spaces of Transylvania into dialogue. The FFF website currently presents these projects as distinct directions within the association’s activity.

Alongside Monica Florescu and Makcim Fernandez Samodaiev, recent FFF projects have featured artists from Romania and abroad, including Rafaela Fernandez Samodaiev, Ziyu He, Előd Gábor, Georg Zatloukal and Benjamin Gotthard, as well as many other guest musicians. FFF concerts aim not only to present classical and contemporary repertoire, but also to create a context in which audiences can engage more deeply with music through dialogue, introductions, encounters with the artists and direct participation.
