The artist and academician Mircia Dumitrescu stops in Sibiu for an exhibition dedicated to his 80th birthday. The exhibition at the Brukenthal National Museum is part of a wide range of Mircia Dumitrescu’s exhibitions that took place at the Cotroceni National Museum, the Library of the Romanian Academy, and in the fall it will be organized at the Romanian National Museum of Art.
A major event in the world of visual arts, the exhibition brings together works of graphics, sculpture and painting, some of which are exhibited for the first time to the public.
On the displays there will be found sculptures drawn in wood with chainsaw and chisel, which the author calls spatial engravings, bronze sculptures, large graphics and paintings. The exhibition in Sibiu is dedicated to Professor Eugen Schileru and poet Nichita Stănescu.
“The art is very big, but the work is personal. As an artist, you witness your world, the feelings and experiences you translate into the work. You are a crucible in which, if you are right with yourself, you must answer to the problems that go through your mind and soul. At that moment, the work is born. You don't know if it is good only when you think that you answered, throughout it, to some problems, some worries", confessed Mircia Dumitrescu within the project "Portrait of an artist", launched by the Cotroceni National Museum in 2020.

Mircia Dumitrescu is a graphic artist, painter and sculptor, doctor in Visual Arts, university professor, member of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania, corresponding member of the Romanian Academy, decorated with the Order of Cultural Merit in the Degree of Knight in the category of Visual Arts and Literature.
