Homestead with reinforced enclosure Măgura, Brașov County This exhibit comes from the ancient Romanian territory of Bran, inhabited by a hard-working population of shepherds and cattle-raisers. It was transferred to the Museum în 1972. The homestead dates from 1844, as is ahown by an inscription on a beam of the house, and it is a prime example of the most interesting and developed phase of Romanian pastoral architecture. As a rule, homesteads with reinforced enclosure have four sides, but there are also units with six, nine or even twelve sides. Its main parts are: the house proper (porch, small room, large room, pantry) two stables for the live-stock and boiling room with cellar under it. Al these are placed within the enclosure and there is a sheep-pen outside the enclosure. Its dimensions, as well as the marked slope of the roof give the building an air of monumentality.

Gospodărie-atelier de cojocar-curelar Săliște, județul Sibiu În Săliște, vestit centru din Mărginimea SIbiului, s-au dezvoltat, ca meșteșuguri specializate, curelăritul și cojocăritul, ale căror produse, răspândite pe o arie foarte întinsă, au fost unanim apreciate datorită calităților lor utilitare și artistice. Casa de locuit este construită pe un soclu din piatră, mai înalt la fațadă. Are trei încăperi: camera mare, tinda la mijloc și camera mică. Mobilierul vopsit și pictat de meșteri specializați, constă din:pat, banca dinaintea patului, două lavițe lungi și masă. În dreapta intrării se află lădoiul, care se desface, transformându-se într-un pat. Iar la peretele din spate, castănul, cu sertare încăpătoare pentru păstrat haine și obiecte de uz casnic. La peretele lateral se află atelierul de curelărie, format dintr-o masă ungă pentru croit, deasupra căreia este fixat pe perete, fliaizărul (trusa din piele în care meșterul păstrează uneltele). În încăpere se mai găsește și scaunul de curelar în care se fixează și se taie fâșii subțiri de piele, cu care se brodează chimirele, și presa masivă pentru ștanțat diferite ornamente, cu o bogată gamă de tipare, cu modele în relief.

Small windmill with tone-socle Enisala, Tulcea county, region of Dobrogea This exhibit comes from the Village of Enisala, region of Dobrogea, where it worked until 1964. It was rebuilt in the Museum in 1966. It is of the port-mill type, where the entire house of the mill is turned windward. Is a small, square, wooden structure with an oak-beam frame - it is boarded up with fir-planks and it has a roof in two slopes, also covered with planks. It has a single room which houses a single grinding installation. The necessity of raising the sail as high as possible, brought about the building of a circular stone-socle, narrower than the building of the mill. It has a polygonal oak-frame, on which the mill-house can slide to turn windward. The sail of the mill is made up of four vanes, fastened to solid whips that go trough the outer end of the so called „val”, the driving shaft of the mill.
